OK, we're a *little* early, but we just ate this prototype and we're too excited to wait.
We're serving a special sundae in collaboration with our friends at Sugar Philly this weekend. IT'S A BIG SECRET NOW but stay tuned tomorrow for the full details!
Today is MANAfest, which is Manayunk's celebration of the fall season. There's live music all day, a wide variety of fun activities, and more food and shopping than you can shake an autumnally-appropriate stick at.
As you might expect, we're contributing with what we do best: fall ice cream treats!
There are THREE seasonally appropriate items for you to choose from. First is our Harvest Apple ice cream, which is made from several pounds of baked and spiced granny smith apples. Second is our seasonal favorite Pumpkin Pie ice cream, which tastes exactly as you would hope. Last but certainly not least is the return of our beloved S'more Sundae, which pairs freshly toasted marshmallows with graham crackers, chocolate ice cream, and a drizzle of fudge.
We love this time of year, and we can't wait to see you on the street!
We know it's still technically summertime, but we're ready to move on and dive headfirst into fall.
To celebrate the upcoming season, we've introduced a new ice cream flavor: Harvest Apple!
Made with two sacks of minced granny smith apples and strong support from cinnamon and its spice cabinet friends, you'll be welcoming the return of flannel and long pants with open arms.
In this episode of Tubby Talk, Terry, Steve, and Chris dash into the world of Sonic the Hedgehog. This character hit some amazing high points in the 90s, but has had what we'd charitably call an inconsistent run in the two decades since. Of course, we can't talk about Sonic in the modern era with touching upon his powerful influence on the world of memes.
Games discussed include: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic 4, Sonic Mania.
In this episode of Tubby Talk, Terry, Steve, and Chris talk about video game marketing and how terrifyingly effective can be when done well. They quickly discover how these ad campaigns insidiously wrapped themselves around our brain stems from a very young age and are even successfully crossing generational lines.
Topics discussed include: The Nintendo Cereal System, McDonald's Happy Meals, The Sega Scream, David Fincher-esque insanity in 90s TV ads, Godzilla 2000 and Final Fantasy VII, Mickey Mouse-ification of franchises, Game Boy rap songs, Conan O'Brien's Clueless Gamer, Burger King advergames, and the entire monolith of Pokemon domination.
This week marks the 100th unique game we've played on WALL-O-VISION, our custom projected arcade system. We've played a ton of classics and a nice collection of obscure curiosities, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
To mark the occasion, we're now playing a tragically unheralded gem. Sega's 1998 title Spikeout: Digital Battle Online is a 3D beat-'em-up game. Deceptively deep fighting mechanics allow players to use button combinations and charges to perform a wide variety of attacks, each with specific crowd-control applications.
This one holds a special place in our hearts, and this just might be the only place in the tri-state area you can play it right now.
We've been wanting to make a special sundae for Cinco de Mayo for years, but this time we finally got it done!
Our Fried Ice Cream is a hearty scoop of vanilla tossed in pan-fried cinnamon and butter crunch, topped with fudge, caramel, and whipped cream. Enjoy it this weekend only, because we won't be able to keep ourselves from eating it any longer than that.
In this episode of Tubby Talk, Terry, Steve, and Chris explore the money and ego-fueled realm of rappers and rock stars in video games. Now you will have to live with the knowledge that David Bowie starred in a sci-fi game on the Sega Dreamcast.
Games discussed include: Journey, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Revolution X, Omicron: The Nomad Soul ( AKA the David Bowie game ), Kiss Psycho Circus, Space Channel 5, Def Jam Vendetta, Wu-Tang Shaolin Style, Shaq-Fu, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, Xplora1: Peter Gabriel's Secret World, Brutal Legend, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and Dropmix.
We can't believe how time has flown, but Tubby Robot is officially two years old!
We've now served up over 86,000 scoops of ice cream, but we have big plans to spread the love even further this year.
To celebrate, Ice Cream Hoagies are back for the first time in 2019! If you greet us with a hearty "Happy Birthday!" tonight ( Wednesday, March 20th, 2019 ), we'll give you a 50% discount on any Ice Cream Hoagie you purchase ( while supplies last ).
Oh hey! Lavender Honey ice cream is back, too. I hear people like that one.
